Chinese contemporary oil painting artist, courtesy name Yusan. Went to study in Japan, studying at the Tokyo Art School (now Tokyo University of Arts) Western Painting Division，Taught by Fujishima Takeji。1928, appointed by Mr. Cai Yuanpei of Peking University, has returned (now Beijing University) Visual Arts Studies instructor, Western painting department head and professor. Director of College of Arts French Comte Art.
Since 1949, served successively as professor of Beijing Normal University, Beijing Art Teacher Associate Dean, Associate Dean of Arts Beijing, Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts professor (now Tsinghua University). Member of Chinese Artists Association. "Wei Tianlin painting exhibition" was held in 1998 held at Beijing International Art Gallery, "Wei Tianlin 100th Anniversary Exhibition” was held in Art Museum of China in 1980,."
Wei Tianlin life in art education and the oil painting, and he is one of the pioneers of modern Chinese oil paintings.
